BAHAWALPUR: Police claimed to have arrested a man on Sunday for allegedly raping a married woman, using a video clip to blackmail her, besides depriving her of cash and jewellery, at Khanwah Ghalwan village in Lodhran district.

According to the first information report (No.522/24) registered on the complaint of the victim, a mother of three daughters, the suspect, who is her relative, used to visit her house.

She said that during one of the visits, the suspect recorded a video clip of her taking a bath, without her knowledge, and started blackmailing her.

The complainant said the suspect also threatened to kill her if shared anything with her husband. She said that suspect then raped her and with the help of an accomplice deprived her of jewellery and cash through blackmail.

She said as the suspect kept demanding more jewellery and cash, she finally told her husband about the blackmail, who reported the matter to the police.

Qureshiwala police registered the case against the suspect under sections 376 and 292 of the PPC and claimed to have arrested him. The woman was sent to hospital for medical examination.

MAN DIES: A man died allegedly after being hit by a bullet during aerial firing at a wedding at Joya Chowk, in the limits of Musafirkhanapolice station in Bahawalpur district.

As per the police, during the wedding, a guest got drunk and resorted to aerial firing. A bullet hit one Rana Ghulam Abbas (32), who died on the spot.

On receipt of information, police officials reached the scene and shifted the body to hospital for the postmortem examination. The police have launched investigations for the registration of a murder case.

ARRESTED: Thingi police have arrested a man for allegedly attempting rape of a 10-year-old boy at 52/B-East village in Vehari district.

According to police sources, the boy had gone to fields to fetch fodder for cattle when the suspect attempted to rape him.

On hearing the boy’s screams, some farmers rushed to the scene and nabbed the suspect, who was handed over to police.
