LAKKI MARWAT: The provincial government launched the process to reconstruct Tajazai-Darra Tang Road to ease traffic between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab via Bannu-Mianwali artery.

The road is of vital importance as it links KP’s southern districts with Punjab and Islamabad through the CPEC route.

District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) Chairman Johar Mohammad Khan MPA said that he brought the poor road condition into the notice of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur with the request to direct relevant quarters for its dualisation and reconstruction.

He said that the chief minister had issued special directives in this regard and the project would be funded by the Asian Development Bank.

He said that the MPs from Bannu, Tank and North Waziristan and DI Khan districts also recommended dualisation and reconstruction of Tajazai-Darra Tang section of Bannu-Mianwali road.

He said that the KP’s additional chief secretary had been directed to process the road project. A local traders’ leader said that the public and goods transport vehicles from Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank and North Waziristan used this road for easy access to various districts in Punjab.

He said that the Tajazai-Darra Tang section of Bannu-Mianwali road was also a business route as traders from the southern region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa used it for transportation of trade goods from Punjab.
