LAHORE: TV show host Ayesha Jahanzeb on Friday told a sessions court that she had pardoned her husband and wanted to withdraw a case of domestic abuse against him.

Ms Jahanzeb along with her lawyer appeared before the court and recorded her statement in the post-arrest bail proceedings of her husband Haris Ali.

The host stated that some respected elders had struck a settlement between them (the couple) to the extent of the criminal case. “I honour the decision of the elders,” she told the court, saying she did not want to press the charges against her husband anymore.

The court allowed bail to the suspect in light of the complainant’s statement. In an instagram post, Ms Jahanzeb explained that there had been no reconciliation as there was no exception for domestic violence.

“Yes, no charges were pressed for the betterment of the kids. However, khula has been filed because violence is unacceptable,” the post said. She told a news channel that the custody of the children would remain with her.

In the FIR, the TV host had alleged that her husband turned abusive a few months after their marriage in 2015, but she tolerated his behaviour only to keep her marriage intact.

She said Haris kept on treating her harshly even in front of her minor daughters. She alleged that her husband badly thrashed her, pulling her hair and kicking her a few days back.

On the day of incident, she said her armed husband again subjected her to severe torture and verbal abuse on the main gate of her residence in the presence of neighbours.
