RAWALPINDI: Salam Air’s first flight to the capital landed at Islamabad International Airport on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said the flight OV563 arrived in Islamabad at 2:55am with 203 passengers on board.

The inaugural flight was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony attended by Omani Ambassador and the COO/airport manager Syed Aftab Gilani.

The Salam Air management and representatives of Menzies (RAS) were also present at the event.

Subsequently, flight OV564 departed for Muscat at 4am with 201 passengers on board. The airline plans to operate five Islamabad-Muscat flights per week.
