KARACHI: A young man was stabbed to death allegedly by his father over a family dispute in the Al-Falah area on Wednesday evening, police said.

Area SHO Naveed Soomro said that a quarrel erupted between a boy, identified as Shah Hasan, and his parents, during which he beat his parents and later on took out a knife and threatened to kill them. However, his father, Azizur Rehman, snatched the knife from him and stabbed him, as a result of which, he died.

The officer said that the neighbours told the police that they heard heated arguments between the son and parents for around one hour, adding that the youth often quarrelled with his parents over demanding money etc.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medic-legal formalities.

Suspected criminal shot dead

A young man with alleged criminal record was gunned down in F.B. Area on Wednesday, police said.

They added that an unknown man was shot and killed by a lone bike-rider in Block-4.

Gulberg SHO Tahir Shaikh said the body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the deceased was identified as Rizwan Iqbal, 30.

He added that deceased Rizwan was a criminal and might have been killed by his accomplice(s) over some issue. Quoting witnesses, the SHO said that after seeing the armed motorcyclist chasing him, Rizwan had tried to hide himself.

However, the suspect approached him, opened fire, and fled. He had suffered two bullet wounds, including one on his head, and died on the spot.
