LAKKI MARWAT: A man was killed and another received injuries when truck and pick-up van collided head-on near Kurrum Bridge on the Indus Highway here on Saturday night.

A Rescue 1122 official identified the deceased as Farman Ali and injured as Gul Faiz, and said a medical team shifted them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Serai Naurang town.

The deceased and the injured belonged to Swabi.

Meanwhile, the police claimed to have arrested two suspects wanted in a robbery-cum-murder case during a raid in Bannu on Sunday.

A police official said on the night of March 24, Shah Faisal, Osman, Najib and their three unknown accomplices had attacked Arfatullah, Matiullah and Atif Khan when they were on way to their homes after attending a Khatm-i-Quran ceremony at a local mosque.

He said the assailants took Matiullah and Atif hostages and snatched licensed weapons from them, while a passerby, Hamayun, who was injured in the firing attack, later succumbed to injuries.

The official said they arrested one of the suspects, Najib, soon after the incident. He said on a tip off, the police raided a hideout in Sukari Karim Khan area and arrested Shah Faisal and Osman.

He said the cops seized a rifle and ammunition from the suspects.
