DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Dera Ismail Khan division commissioner Zafarul Islam Khattak chaired a jirga here on Wednesday to help resolve a land dispute between the Wazir and Mehsud tribes of South Waziristan.

Elders from both the tribes agreed to resolve all issues, including demarcation of Gomal area, amicably through negotiations.

The elders agreed to delineate the Gomal area’s boundaries in accordance with historical maps.

However, the Wazir elders stressed the need for holding another jirga due to absence of some of their elders in today’s sitting. On which, it was decided to hold a jirga again on May 23 to resolve this important issue.

Commissioner Satti said divisional administration wanted to resolve the boundary disputes between the tribes of Waziristan through mutual consent as per tribal traditions.

VISIT: Regional police officer Nasir Mehmood Satti on Wednesday visited the District Headquarters Hospital, Dera, to enquire after the policeman, who got injured in a terrorist attack in Lower South Waziristan tribal district on Tuesday night.
