BAJAUR: A Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl worker escaped an attack on his vehicle by unknown miscreants in Bajaur tribal district on Tuesday.

The police and party sources said the incident occurred on the main Bajaur-Mardan Road near Dosai graveyard in Khar town.

A police official while quoting eyewitnesses told Dawn that Malik Ibrar was coming to Khar town from Nazakai area of Salarzai tehsil when unknown attackers opened fire on his vehicle.

However, the police official said Malik Ibrar ran away from the incident site to a safe place.

Personnel of nearby Khar police station and local people rushed to the site of incident after hearing the gunshots.

The attackers escaped the area.

Mr Ibrar, 38, later reached his house in Nazakai area.

An official at Khar police station said they had launched investigation into the incident. No one claimed responsibility for the attack.
