Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called on the international community to exert pressure on Israel to compel it to abide by the ceasefire agreement, WAFA reports.

Abbas welcomed the announcement of successful Egyptian-Qatari efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

The president expressed satisfaction with this agreement which has been a priority for the Palestinian leadership, expressing hope that Israel will commit to ending the aggression and its full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

He also called on the international community to continue efforts aimed at ending the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine.

According to Reuters, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi also called to exert more effort to reach a deal in Gaza, saying he closely followed the current negotiations’ positive developments to reach “a comprehensive truce”.
