PESHAWAR: Speakers at a three-day day International Conference on Health Research 2024 (ICHR-24) stressed the importance of research and its continued translation into practical solutions to eradicate healthcare challenges.

The conference held at the Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) here was attended by national and international researchers and healthcare professionals, according to a statement issued here on Tuesday.

Higher Education Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, who was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, said conferences like ICHR-24 played a great role in fostering a national research culture.

RMI Chairman Prof Mohammad Rehman, principal Rehman Medical College Dr Mukhtiar Zaman, Prof Saeed Farooq from Keele University UK, Prof Jehan Bakht, Vice-Chancellor of Agriculture University Peshawar, and numerous researchers and health professionals were present on the occasion. Dr Ahmad encouraged students to actively engage in research and pursue recognition on the global stage.

RMI chief executive officer Shafique-ur-Rehman said RMI was setting new standards in research and innovation. He emphasised the need to tap into opportunities created by shortages of healthcare professionals globally by training a new generation of medical professionals, particularly focusing on the young population of the country.

Later, the HEC chairman visited RMI’s state-of-the-art precision medicine lab and clinical trial unit.
