The US’s Central Command said its forces “successfully engaged five airborne unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) over the Red Sea”, Al Jazeera reports.
The incident comes amid drone and missile attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on Red Sea shipping.
The armed group, which controls Yemen’s capital and the most populous areas of the country, launched the campaign in response to Israel’s onslaught on Gaza and has pledged to stop the attacks if a ceasefire is reached.
