Tajikistan President Imam Ali Rehman has congratulated President Asif Ali Zardari on being elected as the head of state.

In a post on X, the PPP media cell said both presidents exchanged greetings over the phone, reiterating their desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The statement quoted President Zardari as saying that relations between both countries were based on a common religion, culture and history. It added that President Zardari also expressed his desire to work with Tajikistan in the important sector of water resources.

President Rehman also invited President Zardari to visit Tajikistan.
