BAJAUR: The local police have yet to register a case over the murder of Rehan Zeb Khan, an election candidate affiliated with PTI, who was killed here on Wednesday.

Sources in the police and Rehan Zeb’s family told Dawn on Friday that the police had yet to lodge a case against the assailants involved in the attack, occurred in the Sadiqabad Bazaar.

When contacted, a police official also confirmed to Dawn that a case of the attack was yet to be registered.

The official, however, said the case of the incident would be registered when the family members of the slain could submit an application for it.

The official said efforts were underway to trace those involved in the killing.

Meanwhile, the police have lodged cases against five people for allegedly throwing stones at the gate of Bajaur Scouts camp following the murder of Rehan Zeb, an official told Dawn on Friday.

He said the FIR was registered at the Khar police station on the compliant of assistant SHO Abdul Samad Jan.

He said the FIR was lodged against Alyas Khan, Burhan, Ziauddin, Sayed Sadiq Akbar and Obid Khan, who along with 25 to 30 protesters started hurling stones at the gate of Bajaur Scouts camp in Khar, damaging it. They also attempted to break it.

The official said the protesters also raised impolite slogans against the security forces.

However, the police have yet to take action against those nominated in the FIR.

Sources told Dawn on Friday that Sayed Sadiq Akbar and Obid Khan, who were nominated in the FIR, were the ANP activists.
