The Biden administration’s sanctions on four Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank came “too little, too late”, says Basil Farraj, an assistant professor at Birzeit University, Al Jazeera reports.

“The reason why we have over 700,000 settlers in the West Bank and Jerusalem is because the US administration and other international media and other states have been aiding and abetting the settler regime,” Farraj told Al Jazeera, adding there have been no measures to restrict the construction of illegal settlements.

He said these measures are unlikely to deter settlers who commit violent acts that rarely get prosecuted.
