Dr Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian envoy to the United Nations, has said that 2024 must be the year that brings an end to Israel’s “illegal occupation and historic injustice against the Palestinian people”.

In a letter to UN Security Council President Nicolas de Rivere, Mansour said: “Israel proves violence is the only language it speaks.”

He urged the international community to “reject Israel’s false, offensive pretexts for prolongation of this immoral, inhumane situation” in the occupied Palestinian territories.

“No state should collude or be complicit with such an illegal and immoral scheme,” the envoy stated, referring to Israel’s calls to “forcibly displace Palestinians and send them anywhere else in the world”.
