BAJAUR: The Bajaur police on Saturday arrested two proclaimed offenders wanted in murder cases.

According to a statement issued from the district police officer’s office, they were arrested during raids on their houses in hilly areas of Barang tehsil. The raids were conducted by Barang police led by DSP Abdul Aziz and SHO Ihsanullah.

The statement said outlaws had killed two men several months ago over unknown reasons. They were booked in the Barang police station.

It said a Kalashnikov and a pistol, said to be used in the murders, were also seized during raids.

Both of them were shifted to the local police station.

Meanwhile, local body members on Saturday announced to mark the second anniversary of local government elections on December 19 as black day in Bajaur tribal district.

The announcement was made by representatives of local bodies while speaking to reporters at the Bajaur Press Club.

Khar tehsil council chairman Haji Said Badshah and chairmen of different village and neighbourhood councils were present.

The LB members said they had decided to observe the second anniversary of local government elections as black day to show their resentment over the prolonged delay in provision of powers and funds.

They said local government elections were held on December 19, 2021, but the government had so far failed to provide them the promised facilities.

The LB members said they would arrange a protest demonstration outside the press club on Dec 19.
