OKARA: The Okara Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has filed a case against PTI provincial assembly ticket holder Mehr Javid Iqbal, Renala Municipal Committee’s former building inspector Haq Nawaz, and former district council building inspector Muhammad Siddique invoking sections 409, 420, 468, and 471 of the PPC, along with section 5/2/47 of The Prohibition of Corruption Act (PAC).

The FIR alleges that Mr Iqbal, in collaboration with personnel from local government institutions, encroached upon one acre government land at Labia Commercial Market, Renala Khurd.

The commercial market was not developed according to the sanctioned plan, and government dues were paid using the off-road valuation instead of on-road valuation, resulting in substantial losses to the government exchequer.

MANEKA RELEASED: Khawar Maneka was released from jail on Wednesday after the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted him bail in an anti-corruption case under sections 409, 420, 468, and 471 of the PPC, along with Section 5/2/47 of The Prohibition of Anti-Corruption Act.

The ACE had arrested Mr Maneka on Oct 4, following which the magistrate’s court granted an eight-day physical remand.

After the completion of the physical remand, he was sent on judicial remand to the district jail in Okara.

Additional Sessions Judge Naeem Shukat initially rejected Maneka’s after-arrest bail plea. However, the Lahore High Court admitted the after-arrest bail, and upon submitting surety bonds with the Anti-Corruption trial court, he was released from Okara Jail.
