SWABI: Awami National Party can enter into an electoral alliance or seat adjustment with any political party in Swabi if ANP’s central or provincial leaders decide so, local leaders said here on Monday.

It is to mention here that ANP has already awarded poll tickets for two National Assembly and five provincial assembly seats in the district.

However, Mukhtiar Khan, former adviser to chief minister, told Dawn that though poll tickets had been awarded, still there was a chance for the party to forge an electoral alliance. “If the central and provincial leaders decide to enter into an alliance or move for seat adjustment at the district level that would be done with mutual coordination and cooperation keeping the party’s interest in mind,” he said.

Mr Mukhtiar advised the workers to inform the people about the party’s policy manifesto.

CONTRIBUTION LAUDED: Eng Salim Saifullah Khan, president of Society for Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (SOPREST), the parent body of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, has said former caretaker chief minister Azam Khan, who passed away a few days ago, would always be remembered due to his tremendous contribution in building the GIK Institute.

In his condolence message on Monday, he expressed deep sorrow over the death of the former bureaucrat.

Eng Saifullah said Azam Khan was a visionary leader and a staunch supporter of contemporary education in the province, and his unwavering commitment to the progress of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was evident from different projects and initiatives undertaken by him during his longstanding service to the province in different capacities.

The generous allocation of a large chunk of lands for building GIK Institute was one of his outstanding contributions, he added.

He said the late chief minister took keen interest in labs and other infrastructure facilities of the GIK Institute and expressed readiness to extend valuable support to it.

Earlier, Eng Saifullah and Shakeel Durrani, SOPREST executive director, visited Prang village in Charsadda to offer condolences to the family of the late chief minister.
