SARGODHA: The district police officer (DPO) has suspended two constables from service for violence against an elderly citizen in the city.

Reports said Malik Nawaz, a former Buildings Department employee and a senior citizen, was tortured by police officials and threatened with consequences.

DPO Muhammad Faisal Kamran ordered an inquiry against Constable Driver Asad Abbas and Constable Muhammad Ali and also suspended them from service.

TOURNAMENT: As part of the Prime Minister Youth Programme held at the Sargodha University, male and female teams from five regions – Sargodha, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur – participated in the Punjab Badminton Provincial League.

The men’s division saw Sargodha and Rawalpindi region secure the first position, while the second position went to the Lahore region. Sialkot and Gujranwala region claimed the third position.

In the women’s division, Multan-Bahawalpur region clinched the first position, followed by the Rawalpindi-Sargodha region and Sialkot and Gujranwala region.
