DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Militants attacked a police station in Tank district on Friday night, leaving its SHO injured. However, the personnel retaliated to the attack, forcing the militants to escape.

An official said unknown militants stormed Gomal police station with heavy weapons late at night and tried to enter the building. He said SHO Asghar Khan Wazir was injured in the attack.

He said the policemen promptly retaliated and repulsed the attack after an exchange of fire with the militants, forcing them to escape.

As soon as the information about the attack was received, district police officer Iftekhar Ali Shah along with a heavy contingent reached there. The police also started a search operation in the area.

The injured SHO was shifted to a hospital in Tank, wherefrom he was referred to CMH Dera Ismail Khan. Later, regional police officer Nasir Mehmood Satti visited the CMH to enquire after the injured SHO.

The RPO presented a bouquet to the SHO, and commended his valour and courage, and prayed for his early recovery.

He said SHO Asghar Wazir showed exemplary performance without caring of his own life, and the police force was proud of him. “The determination, courage and high morale of policemen is a valuable asset of the force,” he mentioned.

The RPO directed the DSP headquarters and hospital’s administration to ensure best treatment facilities to the injured police officer. He said the police had tightened noose around terrorists and criminal elements.
