LAHORE: A sessions court for gender-based violence has awarded death penalty to a man on the charge of raping his daughter.

“The accused M Rafique is hereby convicted u/s 376(3) of PPC and is sentenced to death. He be hanged by his neck till he is dead,” reads the order issued by Additional District and Sessions Judge Mian Shahid Javed.

Sattukatla police had registered a case against the convict in 2019 under Section 376 of PPC on a complaint of his wife.

The prosecution proved the charge of rape against the convict with circumstantial and forensic evidence.

The trial court also imposed a fine of Rs1 million on the convict as compensation to the victim.
