JARANWALA VANDALISM

Published September 22, 2023

JARANWALA VANDALISM: There is absolutely no justification for the criminal vandalism in Jaranwala recently. The police officers who failed to protect the community must be suspended and prosecuted. Stern punishment must be given to the perpetrators to serve as a deterrence for the rest. The country’s Constitution guarantees equal rights to all minorities. This madness must stop because it poses a threat to the larger national interest.

VILLAGERS’ WOES: I am a resident of Ghari Mali Khel, a small village situated on the outskirts of Badaber. The main tube well of the village has gone dry and the villagers have been facing immense trouble in fetching water from afar to their homes. As I reach home from college, my first duty is to arrange water. This is really exhausting. There are several other problems, such as inadequate supply of electricity and natural gas. Lack of such basic utilities is taking a toll on our lives. The departments concerned should resolve these problems.

PARKING MAFIA: Parking has become a hectic task in Karachi. Either there is no proper place for parking, or you have to pay charges for it. No one knows who collects this parking fee and where this money goes. During weekdays, goons of the parking mafia charge Rs100-150, but when you visit the same area on weekends, there is no one to collect the parking fees. They seem to enjoy an extended weekend! Why is the mafia allowed to function and rob people so blatantly?

DRAINAGE SYSTEM: The drainage system in old Sukkur remains a pressing issue, causing great distress to the people, especially during the monsoons. The local mayor has called old Sukkur a slum, which shows his attitude towards the said area. The city needs an effective drainage system immediately.
