DERA MURAD JAMALI: The Abro and Lehri tribes broke the truce and resumed heavy exchange of fire against each other in Bolan area of Kachhi district on Sunday.

Members of the two tribes have been fighting against each other over an agriculture land dispute in the area and last week six people from both sides were killed and three others injured in the clashes.

Armed men of the two tribes took positions on Saturday morning and resumed firing against each other and the clashes continued till Sunday afternoon.

Local administration of Kachhi district made efforts after the last week’s fighting for a ceasefire with the help of tribal elders and deployed a heavy contingent of Frontier Corps, Levies and police personnel in the area to stop further clashes.

Dispute erupts over agriculture land

Though no fresh casualties were reported in the latest exchange of fire which started on Saturday in Baji and Sanjo villages, the fighting created panic and fear among the people who were confined to their homes due to the clashes.

Kachhi Deputy Commissioner retired captain Jumma Dad Khan Mandokhel reached the area with more personnel of law-enforcement agencies and made efforts to convince leaders of the two tribes to resolve the issue through talks.
