SAHIWAL: The divisional and district chapters of the All Government Employees Grant Alliance (AGEGA) staged multiple protests, rallies, and boycotted school and college classes and office work against the caretaker Punjab government on Tuesday in Sahiwal against changes in leave encashment, pension and gratuity rules.

The protests were held on a call by the AGEGA while demonstrations occurred at the Government Nangal Ambia High School, Mahmoodia High School, Government Graduate College, deputy commissioner’s office, metropolitan corporation office, and various executive offices of district education officers.

Also, the All Pakistan Clerks Association (Apca), along with several SE and SST Teachers Associations, Punjab Educators Association, and lecturer assistants, organised a rally from the Education CEO office to the DC office.

Divisional Apca President Rao Shamim Ahmed addressed the rally, condemning the caretaker government for its alleged illegal actions.

The PPLA held a rally in front of College Chowk, led by Prof Abid, Prof Bilal Bajwa and head clerk Waseem.

The DC office rally featured a speech by Shahzad Sadiq Faridi. The District Lecturer Assistant Association locked all public sector college labs to assert their demands. .

ROBBERY: Two armed motorcyclists took away Rs2.1 million from a commission agent in broad daylight near Ghala Mandi, Chichawatni.

Zulfiqar had withdrawn the amount from a private bank branch and was traveling in his car when he was intercepted by two gunmen on a motorcycle.

The Saddar police took CCTV footage of the incident from a nearby shop.

The police registered a case against unknown dacoits.
