ISLAMABAD: The Azeri embassy on Wednesday announced that Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) would launch direct flights to Pakistan from September 20.

Flights will operate from Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, says a statement. “These three cities are important historical and cultural centres of Pakistan which makes them very interesting to visit,” it said.

Flights from Baku to Islamabad will be scheduled for Wednesdays and Saturdays, to Lahore for Mondays and Fridays and to Karachi for Thursdays and Sundays. This flexible schedule will provide convenient options for travelers. The opening of new AZAL flights promises to promote ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, tourism, international transportation and strengthen diplomatic relations.

The embassy said customers could get acquainted with the flight schedule and purchase tickets from the airline’s official website.
