PepsiCo, a renowned food and beverage company in Pakistan introduced a new initiative ‘Roshan Kal’ on this International Youth Day.

Roshan Kal is an inclusive internship programme for the skill development of Pakistani youth and is driven by an incredible collaboration with organisations from varied sectors such as KFC, Hum Network, LCI, and Daraz. The initiative is the embodiment of the untiring dedication that PepsiCo has towards creating an enriched environment that encourages growth and fair opportunities for the youth of Pakistan. The focus of this initiative is to cultivate a future where the youth of the country can be an integral part of the prosperity and development of their respective communities and nation.

The initiative stands out because of its goal to reach the largest number of students across the country, targeting students from diverse backgrounds and ensuring gender equity for a holistic approach to professional learning and career development. It aims to seize the uniqueness and individuality of the youth and utilise the fact that every individual brings forward a distinctive skillset, talent, and outlook that can be polished to create a capable force facilitating the economic progress of Pakistan.

The Roshan Kal programme partnered to create a digital platform with Rozee.pk, a prominent job website in Pakistan, to accept applications for their internship. The selected interns now have the chance to work with multiple organisations and meet mentors from all over Pakistan. This will serve them greatly in developing connections that will help them grow their network. With this platform, they have not only made the application process easier but have also developed an alumni network.

When talking about the programme, the CEO of PepsiCo, Furqan Ahmed said, “PepsiCo is devoted to empowering the youth of Pakistan as they are the architects of our future. Roshan Kal leverages collaboration with 18 partner organisations to provide young adults the opportunity to acquire insights into diverse and complex industries, enabling them to develop unique and multi-faceted skills while cultivating leadership capabilities, critical thinking, and innovation required for the future-fit youth of Pakistan. This is part of our larger commitment to youth development, in line with our long-standing partnership for the Amal Career-Prep Fellowship programme with Amal Academy, which has been supported by the PepsiCo Foundation since 2018 and recently celebrated the graduation of 10,000 Amal Fellows. The positive impact created is evidenced through the 88% alumni who are now engaged in wide-ranging jobs and entrepreneurial ventures, with significant women representation raising the bar on equity and diversity.”

Adding on to this, Sarah Hassan, the Senior HR Director at PepsiCo described Roshan Kal as a programme that values and supports the PepsiCo Positive (pep+) sustainability agenda. Just like other uplifting community projects such as Millions of Meals, Farm Day Care, and IRM Smart Schools, Roshan Kal represents PepsiCo’s devotion to initiatives that aid individuals and communities while working towards a more sustainable future. She described the launch of Roshan Kal as a milestone for the nation, in creating a more inclusive future that fosters youth empowerment. By collaborating and working on the vision of an investment in youth empowerment, PepsiCo Pakistan aims to create a community that empowers and upskills the youth for future success in the competitive job market as well as entrepreneurial ventures.
