ROAD CROSSING: Pedestrian bridges are made to facilitate commuters to cross the roads with ease. However, the bridge on Mauripur Road, Lyari, does just the opposite; it forces the pedestrians to avoid harm by choosing not to use the bridge. The pathetic condition of the bridge means people have to risk their lives by crossing the roads in the presence of heavy traffic. The bridge needs urgent repairs.

LAVISH SPENDING: The Sindh Education Department’s decision to bestow cash prizes worth millions upon its officials should not surprise anyone. Unnecessary spending is a routine despite the fact that many schools across the province have been facing multiple problems for long. Spending millions on gift hampers for certain officials when schools under their jurisdiction lack furniture, potable water and at times even teachers should irritate people, but it does not do that anymore. It is life as usual.

CRIMES ON THE RISE: Robberies in Qila Abdullah, a remote and underdeveloped district of Balochistan, have increased in recent months. Criminal activities, like robbery and theft, are causing a great deal of anxiety to the local residents. The criminals are targeting shops and homes, and incidents of roadside snatchings have also been reported. The district administration must be held accountable for its inaction and lack of effort in ensuring the safety and security of the people.

POINT BUSES: With the point buses of universities bursting at the seams with students tossed head to head, one feels like carrying an oxygen kit during the daily two-way commute to and

from the university. The experience is rather horrible. The administration of universities should increase the number of buses or put a limit on the number of students traveling in a single bus.
