ISLAMABAD, Jan 27: Nine members of the AJK Legislative Assembly and one newly-elected member of the AJK Council belonging to the People’s Party of Azad Kashmir, have sent their unconditional resignations to PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

The resignations were sent to protest against the suspension of the party’s membership of Leader of the Opposition in the AJK LA and former prime minister Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry and his associates.

The decision was taken at a parliamentary party meeting of the PPP held here on Friday with Mr Chaudhry in the chair.

The participants demanded a change in the leadership of the AJK chapter of PPP and said that Barrister Chaudhry should be again appointed as president of the party in the AJK to ensure party’s success in the forthcoming general elections.

The PPP lawmakers expressed dissatisfaction over the ongoing reorganization of the party and performance of Sahibzada Ishaq Zafar as the party president.
