KARACHI: Bay horse Desco looks a good choice to return with shining performance in the Rainfall Cup when it takes place in the Gymkhana race meeting here at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Desco, who finished off the frame in his last outing, is expected to make amends by getting the better of five rivals in the cup race classified under combined scale order VI, VII and VIII being run over four furlongs.

He may be challenged by gelding Faisal Choice while dark bay mare Dolce has the potential to upset the applecart.

It is the second race of a three-race card drawn for the day with a small number of 14 horses in fray.

Mare Basanti seems to be the best bet in the opening race under scale order VIII to be run over four furlongs.

Basanti, who fell prey to Faisal Choice by two-lengths-and-a-quarter last week, is tipped to atone for the loss in the race which has five acceptors.

She may be followed by chestnut horse Arsalan Choice. However, if on job, bay horse Faisal King may bring an element of surprise.

A small field of three horses will vie for honours in the third race under scale order III, IV and V. It will also go over four furlongs.

On paper, bay horse Royal Command looks fancied to return with flying colours while making amends to the last week’s loss to stable-mate Royal Administrator.

He is expected to be chased by chestnut horse Golden Arrow.

The first race starts at 3:30pm.
