LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department on Saturday notified 53 joint investigation teams (JITs) comprising police officers to conduct and finalise investigations into as many cases registered in the aftermath of May 9 attacks across the province.

All the 53 JITs have been constituted and notified after the approval of the Punjab cabinet sub-committee on law and order.

Additional Prosecutor General Khurram Khan says the prosecution department has attached a prosecutor with each JIT.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has reconstituted the JIT to conduct and finalise the investigation into the case following vandalism and arson attack at the Lahore Corps Commander House. The FIR was registered with the Sarwar Road Police Station.

The JIT will be convened by DIG/ Security Division Lahore Kamran Adil. The JIT members are: SP Investigation City Division Lahore Dr Raza Tanveer, DSP/SP-AVLS Lahore Raza Zahid, ASP Taimoor Khan and Factory Area Police Station in-charge investigation Muhammad Sarwar.

The home department had actually constituted this JIT on May 19 wherein SSP Operations Lahore Sohaib Ashraf was included as a member. He was injured during the vandalism at the Lahore Corps Commander House and was a witness to the incident.
