LAHORE: A sessions court on Tuesday cancelled the interim pre-arrest bail of three and extended the bail of two leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in a case of distorting and concealing evidence about the death of a party worker in an alleged road accident.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Bilal Baig dismissed the bail petitions of Farrukh Habib, Dr Yasmin Khalid and Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed for non-prosecution as neither they nor their counsel appeared before the court.

The judge extended the pre-arrest bail of PTI senior vice president Fawad Chaudhry and Raja Shakil Zaman till June 3.

The judge also directed the police to complete its investigation by the next hearing.

Sarwar Road police had registered the case against the PTI leaders on charges of concealing facts and evidence about the death of a party worker, Zille Shah, in a road accident.

An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday extended the interim pre-arrest bail of 40 PTI workers till May 29 in cases of the May 9 protests against the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan.

The PTI workers, including Barrister Shahid Masood, a ticket holder from PP-177, had secured the pre-arrest bail from the court due to apprehensions of their bail.

Judge Ijaz Ahmad Buttar extended their bail and directed the police to submit its investigation report on the next hearing.
