LAHORE: As many as 14 players from Pakistan will take part in the 14th edition of the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final, which starts at the Laguna Lang Co Golf Course in Vietnam on Wednesday.

The Pakistani contingent comprises of nine boys and five girls, who will compete with top junior golfers from 21 other countries. The Faldo Series resumes after a three-year break since it stalled following the Covid-19 outbreak in 2019.

Among the male Pakistani participants are Syed Yashal Shah, Damil Ataullah, Nouman Ilyas, Makayel Majid, Saad Habib, Omar Khalid, Laraib-ur-Rehman, Vivek Anand and Shameer Majid, who attained selections in years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Humna Amjad, Parkha Ijaz, Ayesha Kashif, Aania F. Syed and Bushra Fatima will make up the girls’ line-up.

The players were selected through trials conducted by the Pakistan Golf Federation under the guidance of Salman Abbasi of Rumanza Golf Club, Multan and PGF’s Malik Kamran.

The Laguna Golf Lang Golf Course in the Cu Du village of Phu Loc district of Vietnam’s Thu Thien Hue province has a unique combination of ocean views, jungles, stream, mountain side boulders and rice paddies.

Aspirants seeking global success in this championship will also get a chance to meet British golf great Sir Nick Faldo and attend coaching clinics.
