RAWALPINDI: As many as 85 people fell victim to street crime and were deprived of their 28 motorcycles, 42 mobile phones, three cars, gold jewellery and significant amounts of cash.

All of the cases were registered with the police on Thursday and investigation was started.

Faisal Waheed, a resident of Gulraiz Colony complained to police that some unidentified burglars broke into his house and took away gold jewellery worth Rs1.1 million, a motorcycle, LED and other valuables.

Likewise, four unidentified robbers forcibly entered the house of Mohammad Riaz in Chaklala III and took away with them mobile phones worth Rs100,000 and cash after threatening his family.

Nawaz Sharif, a resident of Muslim colony complained to police that some unidentified thieves stole two mobile phones worth Rs70,000 and Rs20,000 along with ATM cards and other valuables from their room. Bilal Ahmed was robbed of his mobile phone and Rs9,800 by three unidentified robbers in Sadiqabad.

Mujeed Akhtar was robbed of Rs27,800 by three unidentified robberies in Sadiqabad, Noor Hussain was deprived of Rs255,000, a mobile phone and driving licence by four unidentified robbers.

Umair Arslan’s car worth Rs3 million was stolen from Khayaban-i-Sir Syed, Shafa Ali Akbar’s car worth Rs700,000 was stolen from outside a shopping mall in Shams Abad. Costly clothes and gold jewellery worth Rs170,000 was also lying inside the car, said the victim.

Mohammad Haseeb’s car worth Rs650,000 was stolen from Gulzar-i-Quaid. Javaid Iqbal was robbed of Rs80,000 by two unidentified robbers in Rawat area. Mrs Samia complained to city police that some unidentified thieves broke into her house and stole gold jewellery worth Rs300,000 and Rs45,000.

Meanwhile, three police officials were shot and injured in two separate incidents in the garrison city, police said.

The first incident happened in Pirwadhai area where two police officials were shot and injured by three persons who escaped.

Ikram Hussain, a constable posted at Ratta Amral police station registered a first information report (FIR) saying that he along with Constable Khalid Hussain was on his way for iftari when they were intercepted by three persons at Ziaul Haq chowk.

He said that the three persons fired gunshots at them which caused injuries to them, however, the suspects managed to escape.

In another similar incident, a police constable of Punjab Highway Patrol was shot and injured while he was going to join his duty in Rawat on Friday.

The injured were removed to the hospital.
