SUKKUR: A group of armed men barged into a house and sprayed three brothers with bullets, killing two on the spot and seriously injuring the third in Chak area within the jurisdiction of Lakhi Ghulam Shah police station in Shikarpur district on Monday.

Police said the two brothers identified as Rafiq Ahmed and Taufeeq Ahmed had died when they arrived at the crime scene while the third was still breathing. They moved him and the bodies to civil hospital, they said.

SSP Faizan Ali told media the incident might have been offshoot of an old enmity between two rival groups of Mahar clan.

He said that he had directed officials concerned to cordon off the area with a strong contingent of police to avert further bloodshed.
