SWABI: The police have filed an FIR against owners of several hotels in Topi city for employing child workers, officials told Dawn here on Saturday.

They said the district labour department had started crackdown on the employers, who hired children as workers, in flagrant violation of the labour laws, and depriving the children of their right to education.

The officials warned the employers to stop exploiting children of the poor families, saying it was an offence to make minors work for the whole day.

The officials said though people were passing through difficult circumstances due to worst inflation and unemployment, it didn’t mean the children should work for earning a living for their families.
