BAJAUR: More than 500 teams will participate in the sports festival inaugurated here on Thursday.

The inaugural ceremony of ‘Pakistan Sports Festival’ was held at Bajaur Sports Complex in Khar. A large number of sports lovers, local elders, political workers, social activists and youth attended the opening ceremony of the sports festival. The festival is being organised jointly by the district administration, Frontier Corps and security forces.

Officials of the district administration, security forces, sports department players and athletes were also present at the inaugural ceremony.

The players participating in the festival marched along with their respective team flags and banners during the colourful opening ceremony. Schoolchildren also presented various tableau and national songs and got appreciation from the spectators.

The local singers and artists also performed to add colours to the event. Players from Bajaur, Khyber, Mohmand and Dir districts would take part in matches of cricket, football, volleyball, basketball and traditional games during the festival.

The matches of the mega sports event will be played in Bajaur, Mohmand and Khyber till March 23.
