KARACHI, Jan 7:A 30-member delegation of US students visited the Sindh Governor’s House here on Saturday. Talking to the delegation, Governor Ishratul Ibad said that the government’s policy of deregulation, liberalization and privatization was attracting foreign investment.

Dr Ibad said that the country’s image had considerably improved due to better policies of the government under the leadership of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Sindh senior minister Syed Sardar Ahmed, city nazim Mustafa Kamal, Sindh chief secretary Fazlur Rehman and principal secretary to governor Salim Khan were also present.

Earlier, on arrival, the US delegation, along with President Musharraf’s son Bilal Musharraf undertook detailed visit of the Governor’s House, where they were briefed about its historical background.

The delegation expressed keen interest in the room used by the Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, and relics placed there and lauded the beauty of the historic building.

A professor, who was the member of the delegation, introduced the students to the governor and told him that the delegation comprised students belonging to seven different communities.

Welcoming the delegation, Dr Ibad stated that Karachi was an economic city and there were 11 universities and the government was laying special emphasis on education.

Dr Ibad told the delegation that a Textile City was being established in Karachi which would create employment opportunities for 80,000 persons.—PPI
