KARACHI: Three men, including a newly-wed, were shot dead in separate incidents in the city on Saturday, police said.

The Awami Colony police said that Muzammil Munawar, 24, was killed near Usman Shah Mazar in Korangi-5.

Korangi-SSP Sajid Amir Sadozai, quoting the victim’s relatives, said that Muzammil had tied the knot around a month ago. He said his wife had got divorce from her first husband to marry him and her relatives opposed the matrimony.

He said apparently the murder was linked with this issue.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfill medico-legal formalities.

Earlier on Saturday, the body of an unidentified man, who was in his early 30s, was found near a restaurant in Baldia Town No 1.

The body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where doctors said he was shot multiple times.

Doctors at the hospital and police said the identity of the victim could not be ascertained till late in the night.

Saeedabad SHO Shakir Husain said that the police were investigating the matter.

In another incident, a 42-year-old man was gunned down in the Manghopir area.

Police said that Ilam Khan was killed near Islamia Colony Mohalla. The murder apparently was motivated by some personal enmity, they added.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
