MUZAFFARGARH: Veteran competitors Sahibzada Muhammad Ali Sultan and Nadir Magsi are participating in the 7th Thal Jeep Rally beginning in Muzaffargarh on Friday (today).

Most competitors with their vehicles reached the city which is set to be abuzz with a thrilling racing event and other recreational activities for people.

Deputy Commissioner Samiullah Farooq said the event had become a hallmark of Muzaffargarh. He said it would transform into a world-class event in which national and international racers would participate in the coming years. He said it’s a proud moment for the people of Muzaffargarh and Kot Addu, who would be provided entertainment on this occasion.

Briefing the media persons ahead of the event, he said the 190km track was ready and the security arrangements had been put in place. He said the vehicle registration process would be completed in Multan on Thursday and the main event would take off in Muzaffargarh on Nov 18 (Friday). Qualifying matches would be held at “Changa Manga” forest, he added.

Besides, regional horse riding, javelin throw and kabaddi matches would be held. On Nov 19 (Saturday), there would be competitions for men’s and women’s stock category vehicles. On Sunday, the competitions would be held in prepared category. Sahibzada Muhammad Ali Sultan and Nadir Magsi would participate in the race, said the deputy commissioner.

He said the prize-distribution ceremony would be held at Faisal Stadium on Sunday evening. Music, children’s entertainment and food street also had been arranged to make it a memorable event, he said.

He said local private organisations had lent support to the district administration in organising the event. A bus service would be provided from Muzaffargarh and Kot Addu to take people to the venue and back, he said.

He said District Police Officer Syed Ahmad Nawaz Shah visited the spot and noted that the check posts were ready. Teams of the Rescue 1122 also would be on duty, he said.
