CHINIOT: A woman and her friend of Burj Babal turned out to be the killer of a minor girl, who had been missing since Oct 5.

The Chenabnagar police were alerted that eight-year-old Manzam Bibi was found slaughtered in Mauza Burj Babal.

Later, the body was recovered from nearby crop fields, District Police Officer (DPO) Imran Ahmad Malik told reporters.

A special team was constituted to trace the case. The police grilled Naureen, the aunt of the deceased girl, who confessed that she had an affair with Asif from the same village. The girl had seen them together.

Naureen said she feared the girl would reveal it to the family, so she took Manzam to the fields, where her friend Asif along with his brother Aftab Wains, cut her throat with a knife and fled.

The DPO awarded the team with cash and appreciation certificates for solving the blind murder.

KILLED: A gunman and a member of the public were killed during a robbery.

The family of Muhammad Ameer was asleep at their farmhouse at Chah Mundaywali in Mauza Rajoa Sadat late on Tuesday when six gunmen broke into the house. They collected gold ornaments and cash from the house and demanded more money.

When they started beating Ameer’s brothers Qasim and Munir with guns, Bashir, also their brother, overpowered one of the dacoits. His accomplices started firing, due to which Bashir and one dacoit were killed. Other gunmen fled, taking the cover of aerial fire.

The Rajoa police registered a case.

The deceased gunman was shifted to the hospital for an autopsy and was later identified as Asif Ali, alias Ashiq, of Chiniot city.

The police said the hunt for the gunmen was on.

Also, four gunmen on two motorcycles struck the shop of Wajid Ali Kakkuana in Bhowana town and took away Rs250,000 and three mobile phones. They fled after locking the employees in a room.
