RAWALPINDI: With a drop in temperature in the twin cities, the number of dengue patients has beenreducing in the garrison city as 50 patients emerged in three government-run hospitals on Friday.

A total of 177 confirmed dengue patients were admitted in three-government run hospitals including 53 in Holy Family Hospital (HFH), 63 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) and 61 patients in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.

As many as 125 patients belong to Rawalpindi District, 46 are from Islamabad, one patient each came from Attock, Abbottabad, Mardan, Nowshera and Kotli.

Fromnew dengue patients of the garrison city, 21 arrived from Potohar Town, 11 from Rawalpindi Cantonment, 12 from city areas, three from Chaklala Cantonment and two each from rural areas, Taxila and Gujar Khan.

District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Anser Ishaq told Dawn that the number of dengue patients was decreasing in the

garrison city but it was a critical phase and the situation still needed to be controlled.

He said that mosquitoes would enter warmplaces as the temperature haddropped outside, adding that people should take extra measures to avoid infectionin the coming days.

He said that health teams were on their toes to spray anti-dengue medicines and in this regard, fogging was being carried out in all sensitive union councils.

He said that people should clean their rooftops and cover underground and overhead water tanks.
