LAHORE: The Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA) on Sunday formally launched a tree planting drive at Shahdara, a major semi-urban locality near the Ravi river, which is comparatively less greener than the rest of Lahore.

The drive was launched by planting saplings at the Shahdara Cricket Ground (PHA, Zone-I) by PHA Chairman Engineer Yasir Gillani.

PHA Additional Director General Taseer Ahmed, AC (City) Muhammad Murtaza Malik and local notables–Mubashir Lal, Azam Virk, Manzoor Ansari, Mazhar Hussain, Rana Javed Qadri, Malik Nafees and Azam Bhatti and PHA directors concerned also planted saplings on the occasion.

“The PHA is promoting plantation in plain areas, including parks. Moreover, we are also carrying out the horticulture work in the Shahdara Cricket Ground,” said Yasir Gillani on the occasion. PHA ADG Taseer Ahmed said green and clean Lahore was the vision of the PHA.
