LAHORE: Rev-olutionary measures are needed to promote higher education in the country.

This was stated by Governor Balighur Rehman while addressing the academic council of the King Edward Medical University on Saturday where he also inaugurated the Fatima Block of the girls hostel and planted a tree.

He said measures were needed to promote higher education, especially to create opportunities for vocational education so that the youth could play its role for the development of the country.

He said teachers should pay special attention to education as well as moral training of the youth. Despite all economic difficulties, he said, the government was paying attention to the education and health sectors.

Mr Rehman said the King Edward Medical University was a prestigious institution in the field of medicine and its department of telemedicine rendered outstanding services especially during the Covid-19 outbreak.

He said as the chancellor he would help solve the problems of the universities on a priority basis.

KEMU Vice Chancellor Khalid Masood Gondal highlighted the services of universities and hospitals during the corona pandemic.

Prof Balqis Shabbir briefed the governor about the department of telemedicine.
