SUKKUR: The judge of antiterrorism court on Saturday adjourned hearing of the case of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl leader Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro’s killing in a targeted attack about eight years ago.

The judge Syed Shakeel Haider Shah heard both sides at Sukkur central jail and adjourned the hearing till June 25. The case has been under trial for eight years and final verdict has not been pronounced yet.

JUI-F Sindh secretary general Khalid Soomro was shot dead in Sukkur on Nov 29, 2014, in an early morning attack by a group of armed men when he was leaving a mosque attached to a seminary in Sukkur after offering Fajr prayers. Soomro was in Sukkur to participate in a conference when the attack took place in Khosa Goth area.

Maulana Tahir Mehmood Soomro, Syed Hamadullah Shah, Hafiz Abdul Hameed Mahar, Athar Abbas Solangi, prosecutor Abdul Haleem Qureshi, advocate Qurban Ali Malhano and investigation officer Inspector Aftab Pathan attended the hearing.
