Karachi, Dec 8: The new management of the power utility called on the City Nazim at the latter’s office here on Thursday, and offered a close coordination between the city government and the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation in the larger interest of people.

According to the press release issued by the KESC, the delegation, led by the CEO Frank Scherschmidt, apprised the City Nazim of the foremost mandate of the power utility which he said was to provide efficient service to its customers.

“We will create an atmosphere of customer first in KESC”, he added.

The chief financial officer of the KESC, Mohammad Asghar, said that the new management would like to make the power utility a ‘model’ service organization for the city. The new investors were also interested in supporting welfare projects in the under-privileged areas of the city, he added.

City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal welcoming the new management said that the new management would find the City Government as a very close ally with regard to providing people service. He was hopeful that new management of the power utility would improve service.

According to the press release issued by the City government, the City Nazim said that a joint coordination committee of the City government and KESC would be constituted to adopt a joint strategy for the progress of the metropolis.

The meeting was aimed at discussing prospects of maintaining close coordination between the City government and the KESC to improve services to people of the city.

Stressing the need for close coordination among various departments to solve problems of the people, Mr Kamal noted that in Karachi, public complaints mostly pertained to utility departments as they dig roads for laying connections.
