SWAT: Seven more departments were shifted to the newly-constructed building of the Swat University here on Saturday.
According to a press release, zoology, psychology, mathematics and statistics, economics and development studies, agriculture, science and forestry, centre for biotechnology and microbiology and institute of plant sciences and biodiversity were shifted to the Academic Block-C, which has been newly-constructed in Charbagh tehsil, from various rented buildings in Kanju Township.
The release said shifting of the departments to the varsity’s own building would save approximately Rs48 million annually as the university was spending Rs22 million as rent, Rs25 million as administrative charges, and Rs1 million as student transport charges annually.
Since its inception in 2010, students of Swat University studied in the rented buildings in different areas. Due to slow pace of construction on its own building in Charbagh, they suffered a lot. However, construction work on the varsity was accelerated during the last two years.
