HYDERABAD: Miscreants tried to blow up a pylon of high tension transmission line on Tando Mohammad Khan road with an improvised device, damaging its foundation on Wednesday night. The 220kV transmission line was damaged in the blast that occurred at about 9pm.

It was the tower No. 62 of the transmission line on Tando Mohammad Khan road, according to an administration official. Pillars of the tower developed cracks but transmission of power supply remained unaffected.

A Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) spokesman, Sadiq Kubar, claimed that the power utility’s system remained unaffected by the blast.

Meanwhile, the CTD (Counterterrorism department) police station has registered a case under Sections 3/4 of the Explosive Act 1908, 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Anis Ahmed Memon, the SDO of the 220kV transmission line subdivision, Jamshoro, vide crime No. 4/22.

The SDO said private watchman informed him that a blast had taken place in the tower-62 at about 9pm. He said officers were also conveyed the information. He said it was a subservice act carried out by miscreants.

A proscribed militant outfit calling itself the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) claimed responsibility for the blast.
