ISLAMABAD: Liberation of the people of Palestine depends upon the unity among Muslims.

This was the gist of the speeches made during the Al-Quds Conference, which was organised in a hotel under the auspices of Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM).

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, PTI leader Shireen Mazari, Ejaz Choudhry, Farhatullah Babar, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Nasir Sherazi, Mufti Gulzar Naeemi, Saqib Akbar and others were present.

Speakers stressed on continued support for the people of Palestine, Kashmir and Yemen.

They strongly condemned the recent attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque and called on international organisations, particularly the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Arab League, to take practical steps beyond issuing statements.

MWM Chief Raja Nasir Abbas said Ayatollah Khomeini had declared the last Friday of Ramazan as International Quds Day.

He noted that the Islamic world, especially Arab countries, had a fundamental responsibility to defend the Palestinian people, adding that Al-Quds belonged to the Palestinians and Israel had occupied their territory.

Ms Mazari said the United States along with other rulers in the region were in clear violation of international law including security council resolutions.

She said the Islamic world must play its part towards resolving issues being faced by it, especially in reducing tensions in the Middle East, resolving the crisis in Syria, Yemen and Palestine.

PPP leader Farhatullah Babar said words were not enough to resolve the Palestinian conflict; we must take practical measures. The United Nations, especially the Arab League, must fulfill its responsibilities towards Palestine and prevent human rights abuses being carried out by the Israeli army, he added.
