HYDERABAD: A 19-inch piece of down country railway track was damaged in a blast near Railway Colony, Kotri, on Sunday night. No loss of life was reported.

The blast occurred soon after Hazara Express railed on the track.

Several trains were stopped for some time at the Kotri, Bholari and Hyderabad stations by the railway authorities.

Bomb Disposal Squad, Rangers personnel and police rushed to the spot after the blast.

A railway official, Mumtaz Ali, lodged a case with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) vide crime No. 3/22 under sections 3/4 of the Explosive Act 1908, 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code. He stated that the blast damaged a 19-inch-long piece of the track.

It was second such blast within the last few days.

A proscribed militant outfit, Sindhudesh Liberation Army, claimed responsibility for the blast in its statement issued to some media houses on Monday.
