The BA.2 sub-variant of Omicron is estimated to be 11.6 per cent of the coronavirus variants circulating in the US as of March 5, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has said, according to Reuters.
Other Omicron sub-variants that have been circulating since December — called BA.1.1 and B.1.1.529 — now make up around 73.7pc and 14.7pc of circulating variants, respectively.
